The Catholic Foundation is looking for someone in the diocese who actively demonstrates a life of service, prayer and giving in their parish. The 2018 Steward of the Year will receive two tickets to the 12th Annual Foundation of Faith Dinner: Walking with the Saints, and dinner for two at a local restaurant. The winning parish will win a cash prize of $1,000. Nominations must be submitted by pastors or parish administrators by April 27.

The Cathedral High School Alumni Association seeks to continue the tradition of Lasallian brotherhood and leadership by bringing alumni together, recognizing the achievements of the alumni community, and raising scholarship funds for deserving and committed students.

In August 2013, the Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso received a five-year, $125,000 grant from the Hunt Family Foundation to provide scholarships for economically disadvantaged students. Three of those Hunt Scholars are at Cathedral this year.

The Foundation kicked off the 2018 Bishop’s Annual Appeal and awarded five $5,000 cash prizes to parishes. One of the winners announced they would be donating all of their winnings to West Texas parishes.

This year, Progress turns 35! Established in 1983, Progress, the Bishop’s Ministry Appeal, is an annual diocesan fundraising campaign to support the day-to-day operations of ministries and services within our diocese.

Frank W. Gorman, Jr., a devout Catholic and lifelong St. Patrick Cathedral parishioner left a generous gift to the St. Patrick Cathedral Historic Preservation Fund, helping the fund reach its goal of $1 million. The campaign to establish a permanent fund for the Cathedral was initiated by Fr. Rick Matty† in 2011. Since then, more than 400 donors have given generously to the preservation fund.

The Foundation challenged 7th & 8th grade students to raise at least $1,000 per class over their summer break for the school endowment funds. For the 3rd year in a row, St. Matthew Catholic School met the challenge!

A group of Cathedral graduates wanted to do something for the math teacher who inspired them to be better men. They established an endowed fund in the name of Luz Ulrickson so that her legacy would live on through scholarships for well-deserving young students who could not otherwise afford to attend Cathedral High School.

The Catholic Foundation raised $121,460 in just one night at the 11th Annual Foundation of Faith Dinner and celebrated the accomplishments of Rudy & Elvia Miles with the 3rd Annual Dei Gratia Award. Proceeds benefit the Foundation whose only purpose is to serve the Catholic Church in the Diocese of El Paso.
