Watch Dr. Timothy O'Malley's El Paso Talk

Notre Dame theologian Dr. Timothy O’Malley delivered a compelling talk about “Real Presence” on Wednesday, February 9 via Zoom. Fr. Michael Lewis, Parochial Vicar at St. Mark Parish, served as the moderator for the evening. He answered questions about Eucharistic theology, how to go back to church, and some realities for today’s parishes.

The full presentation of The Presence of Love: We Are Meant to be Present to the Lord and to One Another is available on the Catholic Foundation’s YouTube channel.

The Catholic Foundation hosted the theology talk to motivate and inspire people to get back to in-person Mass. Participants tuned in from all over the Diocese of El Paso and included guests from other dioceses like the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

The Presence of Love explains transubstantiation, its full meaning, and how understanding the intimate presence of Christ in the Eucharist as a person can inspire us to be present to the Lord and to one another.

A native of Tennessee, Dr. O’Malley researches and teaches at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, in the areas of liturgical-sacramental theology, marriage and family, catechesis, and spirituality. He also works as the director of education at the McGrath Institute for Church Life and academic director of the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy.
