Big news announced this month from the Loretto Community! Sr. Mary Beth “Buffy” Boesen, SL, was elected as President of the Sisters of Loretto during the July 5-10 Delegate Assembly in Louisville, KY. Her four-year term will begin September 15th. Sister Buffy, as we all know her, will reside in El Paso, however she will be spending more time at the Motherhouse as she takes on this new role. Sister Buffy was President of the Loretto Academy in El Paso for more than 22 years before retiring in 2021.

Also elected were Sister Mary Margaret Murphy SL, as vice president on the Loretto Executive Committee (EC), also of El Paso, along with newly elected EC members Sister Donna Mattingly SL, Sister Cathy Mueller SL, Sister Cathy Smith SL and Sister Kathy Wright SL. Former Loretto Elementary Principal, Jame German, who is a co-member of Loretto, was elected as a member of the Loretto Community Forum along with, Jackie Diego-Medina, Rev. Marty Lally and Sister Maribah Ishaq SL. Co-members are people who share the values and mission of the Sisters of Loretto.
