Senior Mass Held at St. Patrick Cathedral
Senior Mass Held at St. Patrick Cathedral

The Most Reverend Mark J. Seitz, D.D., Bishop of El Paso celebrated the 11th Annual Senior Class Mass on Thursday, January 26, 2023. More than 240 seniors from Cathedral High School, Father Yermo High School, and Loretto Academy filled St. Patrick Cathedral to participate in this special occasion.

Bishop Mark addressed the seniors in his homily telling them that he prays that the education they have received at their schools will be a great resource to them as they go forward, and the faith they have discovered and the presence of God, will help them find direction in this world and fill their lives with joy.

Cathedral High School hosted this year’s Senior Mass and Cathedral senior students served during the Mass; including Lector, Miguel De Santiago, Prayers of the Faithful, Diego Espinoza, Gift Bearers, Alejandro Ochoa and Emmanuel Raposo, and Ushers, Santiago Iglesias, Maro Rizzoli, Luke Briggs, and Rodrigo Nevarez. In addition, Cathedral’s choir sang the liturgy music.

Immediately following Mass, the Class of 2023 posed for a photo with Bishop Mark and Cathedral High School hosted the students in the Cathedral Multi-Purpose Building where breakfast was served.

Every year, the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso brings the senior class from area Catholic schools together to celebrate Mass as part of their Senior year activities. The Catholic Foundation’s Scholar Program awarded over $205,000 to support the education of the Catholic Foundation Scholars attending El Paso’s Catholic schools during the 2022-2023 school year.
