Senior Mass and Scholar Prayer Breakfast to be Held During Catholic Schools Week

The Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso will hold its 14th Annual Senior Mass on Monday, January 26th and the 13th Annual Foundation Scholar’s Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, January 29th in celebration of Catholic Schools Week. These events will bring together Catholic high school seniors and Catholic Foundation Scholars, respectively, to recognize these students, honor their achievements, and celebrate a continuing legacy of Catholic education in the Diocese of El Paso.

The 14th Annual Senior Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Mark J. Seitz and will be hosted by Cathedral High School at St. Patrick Cathedral amid their 100th Anniversary. The senior classes of the diocese high schools, Cathedral High School, Loretto Academy, and Father Yermo High School, will be gathered together for this special Mass to celebrate their achievements and bless them in their future endeavors and journeys of faith. This beautiful event offers them an opportunity to reflect on their past years of Catholic education and sends them forward into a bright future with the skills, wisdom, and faith they have gained.

The 13th Annual Scholar’s Prayer Breakfast, hosted by Father Yermo Schools, honors the 172 Catholic Foundation Scholars who are recipients of the Catholic Foundation’s scholarships, and the benefactors who make these scholarship opportunities possible. Attendees will enjoy a delicious breakfast and good company, while hearing encouraging words from guest speaker Mica Short, Vice President of Development at the Paso del Norte Community Foundation and alumna of Most Holy Trinity School and Loretto Academy.

For the 2025-2026 school year, the Catholic Foundation awarded $225,148 in scholarships to 172 students, offering many children who would not otherwise be able to attend a Catholic school a valuable opportunity to do so. The majority of the funding for scholarships is distributed from endowed funds, which provide funding for scholars year over year through distributions. The Catholic Foundation Scholar Mass and Prayer Breakfast are held each year near or during Catholic Schools Week; supporting, celebrating, and uplifting our Catholic scholars and Catholic education as a whole.
