As a separate legal entity from the Diocese of El Paso, the Catholic Foundation is not affected by the recent reorganization of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso. We remain committed to our core purpose of raising funds necessary to sustain the parishes, schools, ministries, and charities that continue the teachings of Jesus Christ in our Diocese. All monies raised through the Catholic Foundation are only used for the parishes, programs, services, and ministries for which they are designated. No gifts are used to satisfy legal fees or settlement costs associated with the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso’s reorganization.

Now more than ever, we are counting on the community to help us fulfill that mission. Our hearts and prayers remain with the victims and their families.

Progress Ministry Spotlight: The Tigua Native Americans

The Tigua Native American Ministry helps to preserve the presence, identity, and diversity of the people of Ysleta del Sur. The ministry fosters continued spiritual growth and formation, while empowering the Tigua to live in harmony with both their Catholic and Native spirituality.

The Ysleta del Sur Pueblo (“the Pueblo”) is a federally recognized Native American tribe and sovereign nation. The Tribal community known as “Tigua” established Ysleta del Sur in 1682 after leaving their homelands of the Quarai Pueblo due to drought. The Tigua sought refuge at Isleta Pueblo and were later captured by the Spanish during the 1680 Pueblo Revolt and forced to walk south for over 400 miles. Ysleta, Texas has been home to the Tigua people for over 300 years.
