Mass Attendance Count 2021: Be Counted!
Mass Attendance Count 2021: Be Counted!

The 2021 Mass Attendance Count will be conducted at parishes, seminaries, convents, and monasteries, and will include anticipated and Sunday Masses celebrated in English, Spanish, bilingual in English and Spanish, and other languages. The count includes live streamed and televised Masses on Facebook, YouTube, and local stations.

The Diocese of El Paso anticipates that the results will demonstrate the impact of the pandemic and how it has affected in-person attendance. On the other hand, new opportunities to participate have been made possible by the ability to live stream. According to the Pew Research Center, one-quarter of U.S. adults overall (24%) say their faith has become stronger because of the coronavirus pandemic, while just 2% say their faith has become weaker.

The results of the Mass Attendance Count will provide a baseline for measuring attendance during the pandemic. The results will help pastors identify trends in Church attendance, and analyze strategies for future participation and evangelization. The official results will be reported to the general public in November 2021.
