The Office of Marriage and Family Life in the Diocese of El Paso supports all families and the Catholic community on a daily basis by providing training and resources on how to deal with challenges and promotes healthy Christian marriages and families through creative partnerships between the parish and the family. The office offers a couple-to-couple ministry program for civilly married couples, weekend experiences for newly engaged couples, couple inventory questionnaires, natural family planning training, and marriage programs. Marriage and Family Life is supported by Progress, the Catholic Ministry Appeal.
This past May, the Office of Marriage and Family Life offered the Engaged Encounter weekend retreat to more than 15 engaged couples, offering them opportunities for dialogue, life planning, and tools to enrich their relationship. One retreatant said, “The retreat gave us an opportunity to express our love through planning and dialogue about the life that we would love to have together.” The retreat is offered 4 times a year through short couple’s testimonies, questionnaires, and activities. The mission of the Engaged Encounter is to inspire newly engaged couples to invite Jesus to be the center of their relationship.
