The Judge Robert J. and Emma Galvan Fund for Cathedral High School was established with a gift from the late couple. Robert graduated from Cathedral High School in 1940 and married his high school sweetheart, Emma Valencia, at St. Patrick Cathedral in 1943 while on leave from the United Stated Air Force.
Robert and Emma Galvan left a generous legacy gift for Cathedral High School, Robert’s beloved alma mater. Mr. Galvan attended St. Patrick Cathedral School, and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1940. He went on to Texas College of Mines (UTEP), served the United States Air Force from 1943-1946, and received a law degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law in 1949. He credits his high school sweetheart, Emma, “for putting up with him and for giving him two wonderful children”. Emma and Robert met in front of the Plaza Theater and were married at St. Patrick Cathedral on October 7, 1943. They were married for 68 years.
Judge Robert J. Galvan had a long and impressive career and a successful personal life. Cathedral continued to hold a special place in his heart all of his life, something he and his wife, Emma, would honor with a legacy gift to help other men get a stellar education at Cathedral.
Gifts and pledges of all sizes for the Judge Robert J. and Emma Galvan Fund for Cathedral High School are welcome. Tax-deductible donations can be made on a one-time basis or over a period of 1-5 years, and you can pay with check, credit card, or automatic debit. You may also choose the Foundation for the Diocese of El Paso to leave a bequest for Cathedral High School in honor of Robert and Emma Galvan.
