About this Fund

Bishop's Scholarships are available for a select number of students who meet the academic and extracurricular requirements of the scholarship application, are recommended by their pastor/principal, are at-risk and would benefit from a Catholic education, and would not otherwise be able to attend Catholic school.

Scholarships are available for students enrolling in Pre-K to 12th grade and are renewable for as long as the student attends an El Paso Catholic school and remains in good standing. The amount of an individual Bishop’s Scholarship award ranges from $500 to $4,000 annually, determined by the Catholic Foundation based on the ability of the student’s family to contribute toward the educational expenses.

Currently, there are more requests for scholarship assistance than the Catholic Foundation and our local schools can provide. Yet many students attending El Paso’s Catholic schools are especially in need of financial aid. Nearly one out of four of the over 2,500 students enrolled in El Paso’s Catholic schools qualify for the federal lunch program. Many more families would like to attend but find the tuition out of reach. While our schools work hard to keep tuition affordable--with tuition ranging from $3,700 to $8,000/year - the need for financial aid outpaces the availability.

Why Give to Endowment?

Endowed funds provide a vehicle through which individuals make outright or planned gifts that will have an everlasting impact on the ministry/parish/school. In time the income generated by the gift will far exceed the original donation.

As a result, endowed funds provide a perpetual, supplemental source of income for such things as the enhancement of programs and ministries, facilities maintenance, scholarships and seminary assistance, priest retirement, etc. Learn more about endowed funds.
