About this Fund

About the Fund

Joe Huerta established the Huerta Scholarship & Technology Fund for Cathedral High School in honor of his family. Joe (’66), and his brothers, are proud Cathedral alumni. Michael Huerta graduated from Cathedral in 1965. Phil Huerta graduated in 1971. Their sisters, Leticia Huerta (’67) and Ana G. Huerta (’70), are Loretto Academy alumnae. All five siblings attended St. Mary's Catholic School in El Paso.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He married Denise Descouzis in 1984 and has been blessed with a successful career in engineering and a happy personal life. Joe and Denise live in Austin.

Cathedral High School provides students with individual attention and focus needed to claim future opportunities. Cathedral has proven to be innovative and on the cutting edge of academics, and accomplishes its mission to help young men become the best versions of themselves. Cathedral's innovative learning models, rooted in the Lasallian tradition, recognize that each student is created in the image of God with infinite worth.

Why Give to Endowment?

Endowed funds provide a vehicle through which individuals make outright or planned gifts that will have an everlasting impact on the ministry/parish/school. In time the income generated by the gift will far exceed the original donation.

As a result, endowed funds provide a perpetual, supplemental source of income for such things as the enhancement of programs and ministries, facilities maintenance, scholarships and seminary assistance, priest retirement, etc. Learn more about endowed funds.
